Member of the Month: Ronald J. Harper, The Law Firm of Harper & Paul

What are you currently working on?

As a general practice many files are open,  but I’m currently working to clear title for  several client victims of fraudulent deeds, in court and scheduled sheriff sales.

What do you enjoy most about being a member of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia?

In the past as a younger lawyer,  I enjoyed the camaraderie and planning of activities, now, I enjoy watching the presence and leadership of the young members.

What has been the most important personal attribute in your legal career?

Our work representing OIC and the AME Church in their major development projects, over many years.

Tell us about what you do every day at work?

Everyday  at work, I struggle to make everyone happy and appreciated.

If you hit the lottery tonight, where could we find you tomorrow?

At the office, figuring out how to delegate stressful matters while planning a change in the direction of the office.

What has been the best moment of your career thus far?

So many pleasing moments,but  a  best was the completion of a low income tax credit financing deal in the face of insurgent members of  a client who tried to stop it.

If you had a chance to give out your own award, who would you recognize?

Today, I would recognize Joe Tucker and Carl Singley for their outstanding CLE on the legacy of the Black Lawyer.

What is the most important advice you can give to members of the Barristers?

Be sure to charge the client so that the service to them can be professionally completed and do not hesitate to  seek advice of other counsel. ” Once a job is first begun, never leave it til it’s done, be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all”
